Johan de Flines

Johan de Flines was born on 8 July 1965 in Holland. He graduated in Law at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 1990. He has been registered with the Bar of Rotterdam ('Advocaat') since 1993 and with the Bar of Milan since 1996, first as a 'Registered Foreign Lawyer' and since 2006 as a "Lawyer".

After graduation, he worked in Italy in the banking sector, for the Bank of Rome. Later he embarked on his career in Rotterdam at the Trenité van Doorne law firm, one of the largest law firms in the Netherlands, offering judicial and extrajudicial assistance mainly to Italian companies operating in the Netherlands.

In 1996, he permanentely started working as a lawyer at the Toffoletto law firm, specifically alongside Professor Alberto Toffoletto dealing with commercial law, and lawyer Franco Toffoletto dealing with employment disputes. At the end of 1999, together with the current members Alberto Balducci, Marco Trabucchi, Gianfranco Trabucchi and Orciani, he founded the law and tax firm MDM with offices both in Milan and Florence.

To date, as well as having gained significant experience in international law, he mainly deals with commercial law issues, ranging from the establishment of new companies, mainly European, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, liquidations and, more generally, all extraordinary transactions. He provides judicial and extrajudicial support to foreign entrepreneurs determined to conquer or retain a place on the Italian market, and vice versa to Italian entrepreneurs already active in or looking to European markets. He also works with Italian and foreign companies both mid-sized and large in the real estate, tenders, transportation, food & beverage, insurance and banking industries.

He is one of the founding members of DBLA (, a Dutch network that has many highly qualified professionals among its associates who have been practising for some time outside the Netherlands and are qualified in the country where they operate as well as in their native country. They are used to working in synergy in the application of territorial, European, and international law.

He speaks fluently Italian, Dutch and English, and has a fair knowledge of German and French.
